Activities: The Instituto Benjamin Constant is a National Reference Center for the blind and an organisation of the Brazilian Education Ministry. It has a pre and elementary school, the largest Braille press center, a library, a talking book unit, a training center and a rehabilitation centre.

Activities: The Institue supports children between 5 and 18 years of age in a boarding school-type regime and offers special education which includes accompanying children in mainstream schools. Further services include: medical; dental; psychological physiotherapy and occupational therapy guidance and mobility sports music craft workshop where small items using wood, plastic, rope and paper are made thereby developing motor co-ordination in the children's choir.

Activities: The Institute Saint Luzia plans and executes educational services to adolescents with visual deficiency. Support is also provided to families, employees and professors using psychology, social service, educational orientation and supervision. Training is also available in laboratories with assessible equipment and formation and preparation of the educators for performance in basic education.
